Write a letter to your child every year - perhaps on their birthday or New Year's Day - and include it in their album. The letter should be a reflection of your feelings but it is fine to use someone else's ideas for inspiration. Here is an outline for such a letter. Be sure to date the letter and mention if it is a birthday or special occasion mention.

Dear _____________,
You are now _____ years old. This has been a year of __________________.
Over the past few months you have learned to __________________.
You spend much of your time doing __________. We have lots of fun together, but the thing I like to do with you most is _______.
Your favorite thing to eat is ___________ and you love to play with ____________.
You say and do some of the sweetest and silliest things, such as ________________________________.
I'm always surprised by how grown up you are when I see you ____________________________.
Sometimes you get into trouble for _______________ but we usually work it out by _______________.
We sometimes turn into couch potatoes together and watch __________ on TV or a favorite movie such as ______________.
There usually isn't enough time to do everything we'd like to do. One thing I'd like to do with you someday is ______________.
When you get really silly you ______________.
You like/dislike bath time. Here's what you do in the tub __________________.
Some of the things you can draw/read about are __________________.
Your bedroom is decorated with ___________ and it is usually neat/messy.
What really calms you down when you are upset is _______________________.
At bedtime we _________________. Usually you fall asleep around ___________ pm.
Your best characteristic is ______________________. I'm very proud of the way you _______________.

Notes: You may also want to include how much you love the child, what makes them special, things you enjoy doing with them, and your hopes and dreams for their future. You can write the letter directly on a ruled page or write it on paper and then adhere in the album. It should be handwritten even if you do most of your journaling on the computer. You can make a border around the page with a borderline ruler and add stickers of your child's favorite things.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ask these questions of preschool age children (or have older children fill in the blanks themselves). Then add to an album. Adds great interest and fun to read.

U dont have to be at art. I am not an artist but I think I have done some ok layouts.

Its all personal choice, you should start browsing around the scrapping section you might get some ideas.

Good idea, the letter doesnt have to be on a layout.
You could put it in there baby book, or buy them all a journal and write the letter in it each year.

I'm really slack with journalling, I hate it. So I decided that somewhere in Connor's scrapbook I would put that " Someone once told me that pictures say a thousand words .. and that is why I have sooo many pictures and very few words "
