What type of sewing machine for a beginner?

I am wondering what type of sewing machine would you get for a beginner. I hope that you are all sitting down as it is for me and I never thought that I would ever be asking this question.

rick bought me one for chrissy last year and its just ya basic sewing machine... thats all ya need till ya atleast know what ya doing!

Chat to the ppl at the Janome store (the only brand I would buy), they will point you in the right direction. Lolly is getting her first one for xmas :D

I love janome but they can get quite fancy features.

I knew you would fall over Allison. LOL :) You never know I could enjoy it. I am willing to give it ago. Lately I have been interested in all sort of thing that are particularly traditional female roles. I have no idea why.

& besides you still need to bring that rug back over! ;)
